St Patrick's Day Mermaid Nails, Take 2!

Exactly two years ago today, I published this post, a mermaid version of St Patrick's Day nails.  Considering I'd been blogging for all of a couple of months at this point, I was proud of them at the time.  Two years have now passed and I know better than to use iridescent glitter, like, ever, and my placement has benefitted from the practice.  So that was a fine version but I CAN DO BETTER NOW.  So I am, even though I don't really like doing the themed holiday nails.  HERE IS A BETTER VERSION OF THOSE NAILS, LOOK, SPARKLY:

I have this fabulous matte green clover glitter and this has to be the best of the all the times to use it.  To start, I applied two coats of RGB Polish Sea, an amazingly beautiful blackened emerald, not that you can see it, plus two coats of China Glaze Champagne Bubbles for accents.  I then placed my clover glitter into wet top coat and applied my green holo glitter around it.  Same for the accent nails, just with alternating holo and matte gold glitter.  I totally love how this came out, even if I'm not Irish.

The Verdict: I don't really like having to do the holiday nails but this is a particularly sparkly holiday so I can make the exception.  If only to make use of my clover glitter, finally!

Review: Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles is Accurately Named

It's amazing what you can find when you wander around at night.  My favourite time to go shopping is ridiculously late and I'm extra happy when it pays off.  I've been looking for Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles for a while now at that couldn't be more up my alley if it tried.  I finally managed to find it in a Shoppers last night and it really does live up to its name. A Million Sparkles is a predominately blue glitter that has an amazing ability to look like a foil after a couple of coats.  Combine that with gold, silver and pink bar glitter and you have a winner.  It's seriously so sparkly I got distracted from what I was saying at lunch today.  Application is decent but you really need four coats to get completely opaque coverage.  That's ok, glitter dries fast.  It's a little rough too but nothing Seche Vite can't fix.  The Verdict:  Yay glitter! If, like me, you like sparklies to the point where it's the big...

Review: Sephora X Outburst

As you can imagine, I was pretty excited when the new Sephora X polishes came out.  Not only were there a million of them, but I could go see them in person, circling the huge stand and singling out my prey.  I'm not the most happy that the good ones are FIFTEEN dollars each but what am I going to do, not buy any?? That's silly.  I have few now but my favourite so far as to be the incredibly Outburst.  LOOK AT IT:

MOAR FLOWERS, NOW SPARKLY

Ok! So you may be feeling a sense of deja vu but WHO CARES SPARKLIES.  I actually did this flower mani before the neon one - I held the the neon glitter under my blacklight and there was no way I could not immediately apply it to my nails. Running The Sparkly Shop just continues to have perks...  And yes, I do have a blacklight bulb that handy.  Anyway, this glitter is just as amazing as the neon, it's RIDICULOUSLY sparkly.  Same thinness, nice and easy to work with.  Let's take a look, shall we?
