Review: China Glaze Electrify and Riveting from the Hunger Games Collection

Today is the day that I do things that have already been done by heaps of people but I don't care cos I'm super interesting!  Otherwise known as yay, I finally got the polishes I wanted from the China Glaze Hunger Games collection!  It seemed like I just kept missing out on the good polishes from the collection so colour me happy when I finally found Riveting, Electrify and Smoke and Ashes at my local beauty supply store - on sale no less.  Given that it seems as though the first two are designed to go together, together they shall go!

First up, I added two coats of Riveting, the brilliant orange glass fleck foil.  It's so sparkly and aggressively orange, it's great.  Application was nice too, the two coats were plenty.  Once dry, I used my usual glitter gradient trick, painting Electrify two thirds of the way down my nail on one coat, and a third down on the second.  Let me tell you, the combination is super sparkly and really does look like fire.  Given that I've just started reading the books, I now know this is relevant!

The Verdict:  I'm glad I finally have these polishes.  Everyone and their dog may have already reviewed them but I can see why, it's a great collection.  So sparkly.

  2. That combination is stunning! I'm delighted you reviewed them. It's always great to see other peoples opinions and use of nail polish :) and it does look different on everyone's nail.

Review: Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles is Accurately Named

It's amazing what you can find when you wander around at night.  My favourite time to go shopping is ridiculously late and I'm extra happy when it pays off.  I've been looking for Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles for a while now at that couldn't be more up my alley if it tried.  I finally managed to find it in a Shoppers last night and it really does live up to its name. A Million Sparkles is a predominately blue glitter that has an amazing ability to look like a foil after a couple of coats.  Combine that with gold, silver and pink bar glitter and you have a winner.  It's seriously so sparkly I got distracted from what I was saying at lunch today.  Application is decent but you really need four coats to get completely opaque coverage.  That's ok, glitter dries fast.  It's a little rough too but nothing Seche Vite can't fix.  The Verdict:  Yay glitter! If, like me, you like sparklies to the point where it's the big...

Review: Sephora X Outburst

As you can imagine, I was pretty excited when the new Sephora X polishes came out.  Not only were there a million of them, but I could go see them in person, circling the huge stand and singling out my prey.  I'm not the most happy that the good ones are FIFTEEN dollars each but what am I going to do, not buy any?? That's silly.  I have few now but my favourite so far as to be the incredibly Outburst.  LOOK AT IT:

MOAR FLOWERS, NOW SPARKLY

Ok! So you may be feeling a sense of deja vu but WHO CARES SPARKLIES.  I actually did this flower mani before the neon one - I held the the neon glitter under my blacklight and there was no way I could not immediately apply it to my nails. Running The Sparkly Shop just continues to have perks...  And yes, I do have a blacklight bulb that handy.  Anyway, this glitter is just as amazing as the neon, it's RIDICULOUSLY sparkly.  Same thinness, nice and easy to work with.  Let's take a look, shall we?
