Re-review: Nerd Lacquer Cold & Calculating

Sometimes, if I don't feel like digging through the reusable shopping bag holding most of my polishes, I like to pick a polish I reviewed a long time ago, re-do it, and feel superior over myself from January this year.  Yeah, past-self-put-down five! Let's take a look at a polish I first reviewed all the way back on January 4th, Nerd Lacquer Cold & Calculating

Cold & Calculating is a purple franken polish with a frosted purple base and a smattering of pink and silver glitter.  As with a couple of other Nerd Lacquer polishes, I suspect this has been mixed with Kleancolors.  I've always had issue with Kleancolors taking ages to dry and this one was no exception.  Even with a Seche Vite top coat and drying drops, four nails have wrinkled, rage.  I'm not really sure why I reviewed this one again - it wasn't especially impressive back in January and still isn't...

The Verdict:  What a surprise, I'm better at painting my nails now than seven months ago!  Cold & Calculating still isn't very exciting, although I do feel special as you can't buy it any more which really makes this post all the more pointless, but whatcha gunna do!

Review: Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles is Accurately Named

It's amazing what you can find when you wander around at night.  My favourite time to go shopping is ridiculously late and I'm extra happy when it pays off.  I've been looking for Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles for a while now at that couldn't be more up my alley if it tried.  I finally managed to find it in a Shoppers last night and it really does live up to its name. A Million Sparkles is a predominately blue glitter that has an amazing ability to look like a foil after a couple of coats.  Combine that with gold, silver and pink bar glitter and you have a winner.  It's seriously so sparkly I got distracted from what I was saying at lunch today.  Application is decent but you really need four coats to get completely opaque coverage.  That's ok, glitter dries fast.  It's a little rough too but nothing Seche Vite can't fix.  The Verdict:  Yay glitter! If, like me, you like sparklies to the point where it's the big...

Review: Sephora X Outburst

As you can imagine, I was pretty excited when the new Sephora X polishes came out.  Not only were there a million of them, but I could go see them in person, circling the huge stand and singling out my prey.  I'm not the most happy that the good ones are FIFTEEN dollars each but what am I going to do, not buy any?? That's silly.  I have few now but my favourite so far as to be the incredibly Outburst.  LOOK AT IT:

MOAR FLOWERS, NOW SPARKLY

Ok! So you may be feeling a sense of deja vu but WHO CARES SPARKLIES.  I actually did this flower mani before the neon one - I held the the neon glitter under my blacklight and there was no way I could not immediately apply it to my nails. Running The Sparkly Shop just continues to have perks...  And yes, I do have a blacklight bulb that handy.  Anyway, this glitter is just as amazing as the neon, it's RIDICULOUSLY sparkly.  Same thinness, nice and easy to work with.  Let's take a look, shall we?
