Review: China Glaze Luxe & Lush (finally)

Ohh it was a good day the other day: I finally found China Glaze Luxe and Lush at a non-ridiculous price! The hard part is finding a way to use it that everyone and their cat hasn't already done.  Of course I did whatever I do when I can't immediately think of what to do with glitter: glitter gradient!

I started this one off with two coats of Sally Hansen Sonic Bloom, a nice bright red-coral creme.  It applied well, considering it's one of the cheaper ones, only needing two coats.  I then used my normal technique for the glitter gradient for Luxe & Lush, painting 2/3rds of the way down the nail, then half, then the top third.  While it's pretty, it's not as gobsmacking as I was expecting.  I may have been spoilt with "real" flakies and so shredded iridescent glitter just isn't that exciting.  Take a look, compared to something like this or this.  







The Verdict: I really like Sonic Bloom, not so keen on Luxe and Lush, after all the hype.  It's pretty, just not mind-blowing.

    The flakes are a more plastic, cheap version of Shine of the Times almost. I still like it though.

    Personally I think you need to try it on a few more colors before you count it out. You can see all the colors in the bottle that aren't coming out on top of that red. It's a really gorgeous polish...in the right circumstances. :)

    I get really excited when I own something you use! I've had this for a while now. I did a gradient over a coral China Glaze color (can't remember the name). It was gorgeous because the flakes took on some of the color of the base. It was more subtle.

All the ILNP Ultrachromes! Like Shiny Beetles!

Guess what guys, it's not glitter today!  Instead, I have the incredibly amazing ILNP Ultrachrome polishes to show you!  I saw a picture of these on the ILNP site and gasped out loud when I saw the colour shift.  I totally didn't sit for an hour at work, refreshing the page when the preorders went up.  That would be silly.  I was so excited when they arrived as they looked as amazing in the bottle as they did on the site.  I swatched each polish over black, took the photos, but no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the finish to a place where I was satisfied.  I'm sure it's something about the way I was applying it, but there would be little bumps or inconsistencies in the finish and it was annoying.  So I didn't post them.  I gave them another shot in a taped mani and YES THIS IS BETTER LOOK:

Pink Mega-Sparkly Nails!

It's hardly a secret how much I love sparklies.  If it were at all practical, I would make my middle name Sparkly.  Laura Sparkly Tucker.  That does have a nice ring to it.  Anyway, this adoration of all the sparklies means just about my favourite thing ever is dazzle glitter .  It's like a bunch of tiny pieces of glitter were smushed together into a larger piece.  And oh, so sparklies.  I've done red and silver manis using this glitter before so that's the perfect excuse to use the pink.  That makes sense, right?
