Neon Stripy Mani

Oh the woe of being a nail polish blogger - waiting and hoping for mail to come.  Right now I'm waiting on a whole bunch of new glitter and I can't wait to try it.  Every night I sit and stare longingly at the little pots of glitter scattered across my table but I must be patient so I don't burn out on my mermaid scale nails.  This rather long-winded segue leads me to tonight's mani, something a little different to what I normally do.  Inspired by this post, I decided to crack open my second favourite type of polish after glitter - neon - and play with some tape.

First up, I added two coats of each of Neon Red, Neon Orange, Neon Yellow, Neon Blue and Neon Purple, all from American Apparel.  I've talked about these before but they're my favourite for neons that aren't streaky or annoying to apply.  Next, I lay three to four strips of striping tape across my nails and added a coat of my favourite black, Rimmel Black Satin.  Remove the tape and viola!

The Verdict:  American Apparel make great neons and I love how they look with the black.  Adding a super glossy top coat makes these so pretty <3

  1. Very pretty! I love how there's just a pop of colour because of the striping tape. :)

Review: Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles is Accurately Named

It's amazing what you can find when you wander around at night.  My favourite time to go shopping is ridiculously late and I'm extra happy when it pays off.  I've been looking for Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles for a while now at that couldn't be more up my alley if it tried.  I finally managed to find it in a Shoppers last night and it really does live up to its name. A Million Sparkles is a predominately blue glitter that has an amazing ability to look like a foil after a couple of coats.  Combine that with gold, silver and pink bar glitter and you have a winner.  It's seriously so sparkly I got distracted from what I was saying at lunch today.  Application is decent but you really need four coats to get completely opaque coverage.  That's ok, glitter dries fast.  It's a little rough too but nothing Seche Vite can't fix.  The Verdict:  Yay glitter! If, like me, you like sparklies to the point where it's the biggest tag on y

Review: Sephora X Outburst

As you can imagine, I was pretty excited when the new Sephora X polishes came out.  Not only were there a million of them, but I could go see them in person, circling the huge stand and singling out my prey.  I'm not the most happy that the good ones are FIFTEEN dollars each but what am I going to do, not buy any?? That's silly.  I have few now but my favourite so far as to be the incredibly Outburst.  LOOK AT IT:

All the ILNP Ultrachromes! Like Shiny Beetles!

Guess what guys, it's not glitter today!  Instead, I have the incredibly amazing ILNP Ultrachrome polishes to show you!  I saw a picture of these on the ILNP site and gasped out loud when I saw the colour shift.  I totally didn't sit for an hour at work, refreshing the page when the preorders went up.  That would be silly.  I was so excited when they arrived as they looked as amazing in the bottle as they did on the site.  I swatched each polish over black, took the photos, but no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the finish to a place where I was satisfied.  I'm sure it's something about the way I was applying it, but there would be little bumps or inconsistencies in the finish and it was annoying.  So I didn't post them.  I gave them another shot in a taped mani and YES THIS IS BETTER LOOK:
