Review: FEVERLacquer Dirty Dancing in the Moonlight

I blog a lot.  Like, a LOT.  It happens that I actually do my nails twice a night: once, something experimental, like fancy nails or giraffes and then again with something a little more work-friendly.  I like to try indie polishes for the most part, as they tend to be interesting to look at and give me something different.  Last night, however, there were just....issues.  Let's take a look at Fever Lacquer Dirty Dancing in the Moonlight.

I was really interested in this polish cos look at it, it's a flakie for crying out loud!  It also seemed to avoid the whole red-orange-green spectrum too which I was excited about, I have those covered.  I have to say though, my first impression of this polish was a bit off: it came wrapped in two diapers.  I want nothing to do with children so this put me off right from the start.  It also ate the label, to the point where I can't really read it.  Then, when I decided to try it, it was just really sparse and a bit thick.  This is two coats and the coverage isn't great.  Also, even with a coat of Seche Vite and drying drops, I still had sheet marks in the morning.

Anyway, I'm going to stop being negative now as the flakes themselves are soo pretty.  Look at the pinks, blues and purples in there.

The Verdict:  My application isn't good here, sorry guys.  The polish is interesting although I might need to work on my application more to get more flakes.

  1. It reminds me of China Glaze Luxe and Lush from the Hunger Games collection, only this is way more sparse than it. If you like this one, you should give Luxe and Lush a try. :>

  2. It was honestly wrapped in diapers? I just threw up in my mouth a little.

  3. In DIAPERS? What the hell?! Packaging material has GOT to be cheaper than diapers. I don't even....

Anyway. The flakies, they are pretty.

I was wondering whether it would be possible to remove the captcha/word verification setting. Google has made them harder lately and it's really hard work to read them, making commenting difficult. If you are concerned about the spammers, you can turn on the 'comments on approval' setting? I meant this the nicest possible way, I love commenting, and silly captcha/word verification is spoiling the joy I have with commenting. xx

  7. I really like the flakies here, but a DIAPER!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! that is not ok.

  8. I'd like to explain my diaper packing, it's to give a good padding and if there is every any breakage it soaks it up very well and keeps from leaking onto anything else in the package. I'm sorry that was a problem for you if you would email me I'll gladly send you something to make up for that, and I apologize for the old label, we eliminated those as soon as we found they were dissolving as such. I can send you a replacement one if you'd like or a new bottle of polish. Thanks for the honest review :) Feverlacquer@hotmail.com

Review: Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles is Accurately Named

It's amazing what you can find when you wander around at night.  My favourite time to go shopping is ridiculously late and I'm extra happy when it pays off.  I've been looking for Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles for a while now at that couldn't be more up my alley if it tried.  I finally managed to find it in a Shoppers last night and it really does live up to its name. A Million Sparkles is a predominately blue glitter that has an amazing ability to look like a foil after a couple of coats.  Combine that with gold, silver and pink bar glitter and you have a winner.  It's seriously so sparkly I got distracted from what I was saying at lunch today.  Application is decent but you really need four coats to get completely opaque coverage.  That's ok, glitter dries fast.  It's a little rough too but nothing Seche Vite can't fix.  The Verdict:  Yay glitter! If, like me, you like sparklies to the point where it's the biggest tag on y

Review: JENsations Stars in Space and S'mores

Guess what everyone?  I'm going to review some indie polishes that you can actually buy without having to wait for email messages!  Yay!  And sparkly too!  Imagine all the holo glory as while my lightbox produces lovely even white light, it saps any and all rainbows from manis, leaving me to try to take pictures in my kitchen like a barbarian.  It may not sound that hard but when you use a manual focus 60mm macro lens that has a wafer-thin depth of field, it's not the easiest.  Anyway, let's take a look at two, that's right, two, beautiful polishes from JENsations , Stars in Space and S'mores. First up, Stars in Space.  I started with two coats of Zoya Caprice, a very bright purple creme that you'll be seeing a lot of as it makes for a great base.  Next, two coats of Stars in Space, the most fabulous mix of silver holo glitter.  There's stars, squares (man, I love square glitter), hexes and micro glitter.  I liked this one as there was enough glitter on
