Stamping and Gradients, Finally Coming Together in a Cutesy Package

Are you ready for the most cutesy nails ever seen on this blog?  I'm starting off with a warning cos they're a bit ridiculous.  So I've been on a bit of a gradient kick lately ever since I figured out that you just have to follow all the tutorials out there.  I saw a particularly awesome pastel and paisley design on tumblr the other day and thought I'd give it a shot.  Not only did the gradient work, the stamping did too!

To start, I applied two coats of L.A. Girl Delicate and, once dry, painted strips of Revlon Pink Lingerie, Urban Outfitters Mojave and Revlon Cloud on my makeup sponge.  Three coats of dabbing got my colours nice and even, smooth.  I have trouble getting in around my cuticles so I helped the coverage along a little with applying the polish directly.  Once the gradient was dry, I waited another ten minutes before starting my stamping. Trust me, there's nothing worst than getting all the way to the stamp application stage only to have layers of wet polish ooze out under the stamp *shudder*.  So after waiting ten minutes I waited another ten.  Then, using my Konad Black Special Polish and BM-320, I actually got the stamp to apply.  I've always had issues with getting the stamp on the stamp but turns out being quick with the scraping and then using a rolling motion to pick up the image, I actually got a good result.

The Verdict: Of course I love this.  It took too long and was so risky with the stamping on the top for me not to love it.  My bf came up behind me as I was editing these saying "Oooh, who did those?" cos they were so awesome.  And cute, I like cute.

  3. Very nice. Your issues with stamping may not be your fault, but rather your stamper. You can use a fine nail buffer to buff the top of your stamper to help with the pickup (sometimes they get hard). I would also recommend buying the "XL stamper" that is black and has a white super squishy silicone/rubber pad on it. You can find it on places like Ninja Polish, Llarowe and eBay (where I got mine) for about $7. Out of the 3 stampers I have I love that one bc its almost 'tacky' and picks up everything, including cat fuzz, and allows you to squish the design on your finger instead of rolling. Search YouTube and you will find a video that shows you why its better. Keep being awesome!

  6. Yes they are terribly cute! Good work. But can I suugest you do the stamping the other way? The way you do it, only you can really appreciate the design, other people are seeing it upside down because your hands are normally displayed with the tips towards people. I hope you can understand what I'm saying, it's kind of difficult for me to explain in english :-)

Review: Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles is Accurately Named

It's amazing what you can find when you wander around at night.  My favourite time to go shopping is ridiculously late and I'm extra happy when it pays off.  I've been looking for Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles for a while now at that couldn't be more up my alley if it tried.  I finally managed to find it in a Shoppers last night and it really does live up to its name. A Million Sparkles is a predominately blue glitter that has an amazing ability to look like a foil after a couple of coats.  Combine that with gold, silver and pink bar glitter and you have a winner.  It's seriously so sparkly I got distracted from what I was saying at lunch today.  Application is decent but you really need four coats to get completely opaque coverage.  That's ok, glitter dries fast.  It's a little rough too but nothing Seche Vite can't fix.  The Verdict:  Yay glitter! If, like me, you like sparklies to the point where it's the biggest tag on y

Review: JENsations Stars in Space and S'mores

Guess what everyone?  I'm going to review some indie polishes that you can actually buy without having to wait for email messages!  Yay!  And sparkly too!  Imagine all the holo glory as while my lightbox produces lovely even white light, it saps any and all rainbows from manis, leaving me to try to take pictures in my kitchen like a barbarian.  It may not sound that hard but when you use a manual focus 60mm macro lens that has a wafer-thin depth of field, it's not the easiest.  Anyway, let's take a look at two, that's right, two, beautiful polishes from JENsations , Stars in Space and S'mores. First up, Stars in Space.  I started with two coats of Zoya Caprice, a very bright purple creme that you'll be seeing a lot of as it makes for a great base.  Next, two coats of Stars in Space, the most fabulous mix of silver holo glitter.  There's stars, squares (man, I love square glitter), hexes and micro glitter.  I liked this one as there was enough glitter on
