Taxi Nails with Maybelline Fiercely Tangy!

I'm not really sure why but I've become a little obsessed with yellow polishes lately.  I guess I want to make it up to the colour after ignoring it for two years.  Shh, that's a normal thing to do.  Totes.  Anyway, Maybelline Fiercely Tangy is good at fitting in that colour cos it's yellow.  Which means I of course have to put glitter on it.  Taxi nails!

Review: OPI Push and Shove - Fussy but Awesome

This is weird, I think this might be like my first two-in-a-row swatch posts in forever!  I had things to say about the new Finger Paints flakies and I also have things to say about the new OPI Gwen Stefani chrome, Push and Shove.  And it's good things this time!  I'm really impressed with all the different polishes OPI has been coming out with lately - the Liquid Sands, the interesting glitters, etc - and Push and Shove is really interesting.

Review: The New Finger Paints Flakies - The Kaleidescope Collection

Let me set the scene.  Imagine it's two years ago.  I was just starting this blog and had become obsessed with indie polishes because I liked the glitter.  Then, on the horizon, comes a magic collection of "flakie" polishes.  Why would you care about flakie polishes?  Well, they were these plain looking bottles of weird shaped glitter that just happened to explode with amazingness when you put them over a black polish.  Unfortunately they were only sold at Sally Beauty store and I missed out on all but two of them.  Given they were sold on ebay for up to $70, I never got to complete the collection.  I very nearly actually died when I found out that Finger Paints were doing another collection of flakies, the Kaleidescope Collection.  So much so that I made my friend Kirsten drive me to a Sally's in Etobioke when I live downtown.  Let's take a look at the full collection, now, shall we?

What Went Wrong: Four Manis from Dec-Jan

I don't know about you guys but I do my nails every day.  Unless I'm sleeping.  Then I do them when I wake up.  Anyway, given I post only sporadically, that leaves a lot of nails I do but don't post.  They're even usually pretty complicated!  Just somehow, somewhere in how the photos came out, my colour choices, my execution or the way the wind is blowing, they don't get posted because they're not the best they can be.  In the interest of transparency, let's have a look at some that didn't quite make the cut.

Review: OPI DS Lapis in a Starry Night Sky

I'm not really one for New Years Resolutions.  I like to have as little commitments as possible, generally speaking.  If I were to have one, it would be to get better at freehand acrylic painting.  I think it's pretty safe to say I've mastered glitter so I really should try to improve in other areas.  I saw an amazing mani over at Lucy's Stash that had white acrylic stars painted over OPI DS Lapis so I decided that it would be a good place to start.

Year In Review: My Sixteen Favourite Nails of 2013

I know it's now 2014 but I've never been the biggest fan of doing things because the date says so.  I do, however, want to reflect on 2013 as a year.  I'm just so grateful to all of you for being so supportive.  I'd probably keep my nails sparkly even if no one came here but having such wonderful people constantly show their support through comments and views on all the various platforms....it's just great.  So thank you!  I love all of you.  You let me be myself and it's wonderful. Enough with the gushing, fancy seeing my favourite nails for 2013?  I was going to do this whole thing where I just swatched all my favourite polishes but I lost interest and made it too complicated, so let's just look at sparklies, shall we?  Here are my sixteen favourites, in no particular order....
