Polish All the Nails

So yeah! Woo! Black and white!  Like, yeah, that's a thing!  All the black glitters!  Over white!  So black and white!  Woo!  There's not the most to say really. 

There are tons of different polishes I'm incapable of passing up but queen of them all are holo polishes.  A true linear holo polish is a truly magical thing to behold and I've spent a lot of time trying to track down the best ones.  Imagine my surprise when I found a re-release of the infamous Gosh Holographic Hero in Shoppers the other day!  I totally didn't buy two of them.  The problem of course though is how my lighting setup for photos is the WORST for trying to capture a rainbow.  When we had that rare sunny day in Toronto last week, I had to run home and take photos. Like Nfu-Oh 61, application is a little bit tricky as the polish tends to drag around the cuticles.  I found though that if you do three thin coats and let it dry throughly between coats, you can get it nice and even.  Also, holos benefit from the "top coat sandwich".  As top coats tend to dull holos just a little, adding two coats, a coat of top coat then another coat of...

Sometimes, I have these brilliant ideas in my head and they just do not translate well to reality.  It's extra annoying as I have to stare at them all day and it makes me all whiny.  However, I feel it is my duty to show you everything - even if I kinda hate it - so you know not to do it yourself.  Learning yay! So this particular "brilliant" idea started off with a suggestion from a reader, comparing Deborah Lippmann Private Dancer with Gosh Purple Heart.  I happened to have that one lying around so gave it a shot.  Purple Heart looks amazing in the bottle - that wonderful purple-green duochrome I find so hard to resist.  The first coat was good, if not a little thin, appropriately being all colour-switchy.  By the time I got to three coats, the colours just kinda stopped being awesome.  I couldn't see the colour shift even looking at it, let alone on camera.  My next misstep was to add an accent nail in the new silver leaf I found at ...

So this is post 180 or so.  I'm finding it harder and harder to come up with different ideas.  Must read more of the tubes!  Anyway, a while back on Reddit I saw an amazing taped mani with a sparkly glitter triangle.  If you know the one I'm talking about, please let me know and I'll add a credit in.  I've been looking for an excuse to use Nicole by OPI Rainbow in the S'Kylie so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. First up, two coats of Gosh Black Passion, a dark charcoal grey with a little shimmer in there.  I have a bunch of Gosh polishes as they keep being on sale but haven't gotten around to using them.  I was pleasantly surprised.  They applied well - two coats - and were fast drying.  Before adding the tape, added a quick coat of Seche Vite to really get it to dry.  Once completely dry (seriously, just wait five more minutes) I cut out tape triangles and added a coat of the glitter.  What you see here is actually ju...
