Polish All the Nails

I'm in a ridiculously lucky position right now.  The company I worked for for three years fell apart and with a combination of the savings and resulting payout, I don't have to work for a little while.  Not forever, but enough time for me to get enough sleep and to fully dedicate as much time as I want to doing my nails, among other things.  This is how I had the time to do the ridiculous manicure I'm about to show you, and why I'm publishing this at 5.30am.  I was sorting out my desk when I came across a pot of red holographic diamond shaped glitter I haven't really known how to fully utilise.  It's the only one I have in this size so I couldn't do the geometric shapes I've done with some other colours in the past.  I think I've always known what to do with it, but it's tiny, and fiddly.  Bracing myself with a lot of episodes of The Good Wife and a google search for the best colour complements to red, I began.  To start this manicure, I app...

I spend rather a lot of time on the internet, looking at nail polish and various vendors.  I found a particularly terrible looking site that sold cheap China Glaze polishes and decided to give it a shot, given I could use PayPal to cover me.  On a whim, I threw a bottle of red Seche polish, feeling like I should give it a try given how much I like the top coat.  Let's take a closer look at Seche Rouge. Application was pretty good with this polish but nothing especially stand out.  I used two coats here although, looking at the photos, I wish I'd done another coat to even out the bumps in my nails.  It's also difficult to clean up, you can see how red my cuticles are, despite taking extra time to clean up.  I didn't notice it dried especially fast.  I wanted to jazz the plain red up a bit so I grabbed my striping tape to make the criss-cross pattern on my thumb and ring finger.  Using Glitter Gal Red Sparkle, I added the squares.  Di...

It's tricky, being a nail blogger and having to deal with flying 22 hours from Toronto to Melbourne.  Not so much the flight - I have resources to deal with that.  It's more about how I'm going to go more than a day without doing my nails.  I hate it when they chip as I end up picking it all off and that's ever a good look.  Instead, I decided to go with my most reliable Sally Hansen Salon Effects, Misbehaved, the fishnet stocking print. Using my normal application technique, I whacked these on.  There's something really durable about this particular pattern.  I've worn these for five actual days before and not wanted to claw it off so victory there.  I also like the pattern, nothing too obvious and in your face, just patterned and non-chipping. Another of the things that inspired me to start about nail polish was the Sally Hansen Salon Effect Nail Polish Strips.  Coming in a variety of different patterns, they inspired me to start trying out patterns on my own.  Having just found a packet of them in my drawer, I thought I'd give one of my favourites Cut It Out a thorough go over.
