Review: China Glaze I'm Not Lion and I Herd That

Every once in a while, I take a wander around Winners, the kinda weird "bargain" store here in Canada. They have an eclectic selection of nail polishes but usually nothing new. Knock me over with a feather when I saw these two beautiful polishes, China Glaze I Herd That and I'm Not Lion, from the new On Safari collection. I just had to try them out together and thought I'd play around with some stripes as well.

To start with, I added two coats of I'm Not Lion, a soft gold glitter polish just packed with gold and holo micro glitter. Application was good, although I dread taking it off. I then added a gradient using I Herd That, a bronze version of I'm Not Lion, although the holo glitter is a little more sparse. Lots of people seem to like the sponge gradient but I've never really got it to work so well. I prefer to wipe most of the polish off, then paint 2/3rds of my nail, then half, then the tips. Works for me. Once that was all dry, I laid out stripes of striping tape and added the black polish. I found that you don't need to press the tape to your palm like with scotch tape, if anything you have to make sure it's all smoothed down.

The Verdict: It doesn't really show here as my lightbox doesn't have a sharp point of light but this polish is so sparkly and so packed with holo glitter, you have to see it to believe. I'm really happy with how the stripes turned out over the glitter, too.

Review: Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles is Accurately Named

It's amazing what you can find when you wander around at night. My favourite time to go shopping is ridiculously late and I'm extra happy when it pays off. I've been looking for Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles for a while now at that couldn't be more up my alley if it tried. I finally managed to find it in a Shoppers last night and it really does live up to its name. A Million Sparkles is a predominately blue glitter that has an amazing ability to look like a foil after a couple of coats. Combine that with gold, silver and pink bar glitter and you have a winner. It's seriously so sparkly I got distracted from what I was saying at lunch today. Application is decent but you really need four coats to get completely opaque coverage. That's ok, glitter dries fast. It's a little rough too but nothing Seche Vite can't fix. The Verdict: Yay glitter! If, like me, you like sparklies to the point where it's the big...

Review: Sephora X Outburst

As you can imagine, I was pretty excited when the new Sephora X polishes came out. Not only were there a million of them, but I could go see them in person, circling the huge stand and singling out my prey. I'm not the most happy that the good ones are FIFTEEN dollars each but what am I going to do, not buy any?? That's silly. I have few now but my favourite so far as to be the incredibly Outburst. LOOK AT IT:

MOAR FLOWERS, NOW SPARKLY

Ok! So you may be feeling a sense of deja vu but WHO CARES SPARKLIES. I actually did this flower mani before the neon one - I held the the neon glitter under my blacklight and there was no way I could not immediately apply it to my nails. Running The Sparkly Shop just continues to have perks... And yes, I do have a blacklight bulb that handy. Anyway, this glitter is just as amazing as the neon, it's RIDICULOUSLY sparkly. Same thinness, nice and easy to work with. Let's take a look, shall we?
