Festive Wrapping Paper Nails!

The Reddit challenge this week is "Glitter".  I don't know about you but I find this an incredibly intimidating task.  I've done so many manicures with glitter, be it glitter mosaics, stained glass glitter, geometric glitter, glitter polish or mermaid nails.  HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE WHAT EPITOMISES GLITTER TO ME.  IT'S TOO HARD.  It's like trying to choose which of your hypothetical children is your favourite.  I realise this is a lot of shouting but it's mostly because while I like this mani, I made the mistake of starting at midnight and there just isn't enough glitter here.  So let's just pretend these are wrapping paper nails!

To start, I applied two coats of China Glaze For Audrey, a nice light turquoise creme.  Next, using my usual process, I added the glitter stripes, alternating between gold and silver first then adding the pink.  I've changed up my top coats for this to try and stop the massive amount of bubbles I've been getting lately and it seems to have worked.  Instead of Essie Everyday Top Coat and Out the Door I'm using Sally Hansen Invisible and a lovely new bottle of Seche Vite.  I really like Invisible as a glitter base, it doesn't dry too fast and doesn't leave bubbles.  So yay!

The Verdict:  I'm hoping I have enough time tonight to do the super glitter nails I have in my head right now.  In the mean time, look, sparkly!

Review: Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles is Accurately Named

It's amazing what you can find when you wander around at night.  My favourite time to go shopping is ridiculously late and I'm extra happy when it pays off.  I've been looking for Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles for a while now at that couldn't be more up my alley if it tried.  I finally managed to find it in a Shoppers last night and it really does live up to its name. A Million Sparkles is a predominately blue glitter that has an amazing ability to look like a foil after a couple of coats.  Combine that with gold, silver and pink bar glitter and you have a winner.  It's seriously so sparkly I got distracted from what I was saying at lunch today.  Application is decent but you really need four coats to get completely opaque coverage.  That's ok, glitter dries fast.  It's a little rough too but nothing Seche Vite can't fix.  The Verdict:  Yay glitter! If, like me, you like sparklies to the point where it's the big...

Review: Sephora X Outburst

As you can imagine, I was pretty excited when the new Sephora X polishes came out.  Not only were there a million of them, but I could go see them in person, circling the huge stand and singling out my prey.  I'm not the most happy that the good ones are FIFTEEN dollars each but what am I going to do, not buy any?? That's silly.  I have few now but my favourite so far as to be the incredibly Outburst.  LOOK AT IT:

MOAR FLOWERS, NOW SPARKLY

Ok! So you may be feeling a sense of deja vu but WHO CARES SPARKLIES.  I actually did this flower mani before the neon one - I held the the neon glitter under my blacklight and there was no way I could not immediately apply it to my nails. Running The Sparkly Shop just continues to have perks...  And yes, I do have a blacklight bulb that handy.  Anyway, this glitter is just as amazing as the neon, it's RIDICULOUSLY sparkly.  Same thinness, nice and easy to work with.  Let's take a look, shall we?
