Abstract Ocean Wave Mermaid Nails!

Alrighty!  It's been a little while since I've done a full set of mermaid nails and a trip to the One of a Kind show in Toronto this weekend is the perfect time to do them cos showing off and good lighting.  The girls from Beyond the Nail had a stand and I had to go say hi.  I love doing these mermaid nails, they're so sparkly despite the scratchiness.  It makes me happy when I get can get all the little pieces around the edges to fit and it's all neat and nice and :D

These nails are done with my usual process.  In this case I did two coats of Essie Under the Twilight as my base colour, then I added my thick coat of cheap top coat and got to work with my big glitter.  I've found that I can cover my whole nail in the top coat and be done with the full size pieces of glitter before it dries completely.  For the first pass, I let the pieces hang over the edge of my nail and leave gaps around the cuticle to be filled in later.  Once done, I eyeball the size of the gaps and use my sharp embroidery scissors to trim my pieces to fit.  I then stick them on with more top coat.  Add two-three coats of Seche Vite and BAM done.  Really don't take that long, maybe an hour for the one hand.

The Verdict:  I love how the five different colours of glitter together look like abstract ocean waves.  And mermaids.  That are in the ocean.  And it's sparkly.  These are things that are satisfactory to me.  Sparkly!

Review: Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles is Accurately Named

It's amazing what you can find when you wander around at night.  My favourite time to go shopping is ridiculously late and I'm extra happy when it pays off.  I've been looking for Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles for a while now at that couldn't be more up my alley if it tried.  I finally managed to find it in a Shoppers last night and it really does live up to its name. A Million Sparkles is a predominately blue glitter that has an amazing ability to look like a foil after a couple of coats.  Combine that with gold, silver and pink bar glitter and you have a winner.  It's seriously so sparkly I got distracted from what I was saying at lunch today.  Application is decent but you really need four coats to get completely opaque coverage.  That's ok, glitter dries fast.  It's a little rough too but nothing Seche Vite can't fix.  The Verdict:  Yay glitter! If, like me, you like sparklies to the point where it's the biggest tag on y

I'm a Proper Mermaid This Time Beeeeaches

Ermerger guys, I don't have any glitter on me!  Well, I do, just on my nails.  I always have glitter on me.  And cat fluff.  It's funny how often my bf comes home with glitter in his beard.  That means it's been there all day... Anyway, new nail vinyls mean something a bit different.  I swear I'm not actually obsessed with mermaids, it just seems like it... Anyway, again, shall we?

FULL RAINBOW GLITTER INSANITYYYYYYYY

I don't know what it is, but there's something about hex glitter that is very pleasing to me.  The tessellation, the way the colours can interlace, it's just great.  The problem is, the tiny glitter - my favourite - is actually quite difficult to find. The red, especially, difficult to track down.  I FINALLY FOUND SIXTEEN COLOURS BIATCHES.  THUS, RAINBOW-Y-EST RAINBOWS EVER AND I'm sharing too at the The Sparkly Shop ... But we're here for this rainbow today.  LOOK AT THIS WOULD YOU.
