Rainbow Dry Marbling

After the reasonable success of my last dry marbing experiment, despite the emotional pain inflicted on my camera, I decided to give it another shot, this time with raaaaaaaiiinbows.  I fear that, while very rainbowy, I've made a huuge mistake that kinda ruins it.

First up, I got out my handy sandwich bag and painted a rainbow strip with five different LA Color Art Deco Colors I found at Honest Ed's for $2 each.  Once each stripe was done, I took a toothpick and dragged it through all the colours.  Awesome, wicked sick, I even made enough for if I messed up one and left it on an angle like last time.  Chopping a bit off one end, all ready to stick on my heavy coat of Seche Vite.  Here I come to a cross roads.  Blue end or red end at the cuticle?  Shoulda chosen blue because now it looks like I have the most terrible cuticles.  And now my ring finger hurts from trying to get the red off :(







The Verdict: I like the colours and the rainbow, I'm just already super self-conscious about my cuticles, being a recovering cuticle-picker who's under an enormous amount of pressure.  Next time, NEVER RED AGAINST THE CUTICLES.

    BUT, it looks great! Do you have any issue with your toothpicks making too much of a mark in the polish? I switched to a pin because I only had fat toothpicks that left a trail of bare nail.

    yes, i agree: red was probably not the best choice near the cuticle but oh my god, how gorgeous is that nevertheless xx

    So you dry marbled on the sandwhich bag? How did you get the polish onto your nails? -interested-

All the ILNP Ultrachromes! Like Shiny Beetles!

Guess what guys, it's not glitter today!  Instead, I have the incredibly amazing ILNP Ultrachrome polishes to show you!  I saw a picture of these on the ILNP site and gasped out loud when I saw the colour shift.  I totally didn't sit for an hour at work, refreshing the page when the preorders went up.  That would be silly.  I was so excited when they arrived as they looked as amazing in the bottle as they did on the site.  I swatched each polish over black, took the photos, but no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the finish to a place where I was satisfied.  I'm sure it's something about the way I was applying it, but there would be little bumps or inconsistencies in the finish and it was annoying.  So I didn't post them.  I gave them another shot in a taped mani and YES THIS IS BETTER LOOK:

Pink Mega-Sparkly Nails!

It's hardly a secret how much I love sparklies.  If it were at all practical, I would make my middle name Sparkly.  Laura Sparkly Tucker.  That does have a nice ring to it.  Anyway, this adoration of all the sparklies means just about my favourite thing ever is dazzle glitter .  It's like a bunch of tiny pieces of glitter were smushed together into a larger piece.  And oh, so sparklies.  I've done red and silver manis using this glitter before so that's the perfect excuse to use the pink.  That makes sense, right?
