First Attempt at Temporary Tattoo Nails

I have to admit, I've become a little stagnant in my posts here.  Too often have I relied on just an indie glitter polish to review, or a glitter mosaic to do again.  It's surprisingly difficult to keep it all going.  There are only so much creativity you can have with your nails when you aren't very good at acrylic painting.  In an effort to at least try to shake thing up (it's hard after nearly 250 posts), I thought I'd try an experiment using a technique I saw a while back: temporary tattoos!

To start with, I added two coats of Revlon Silver Coin, a sparkly silver foil.  I think this is the first time I've used this one and it's not bad.  Application is consistent with other Revlons - two coats is fine.  I couldn't find my normal silver - Sally Hansen Celeb City - and this is a reasonable substitute.   The original post about this technique layered it over a holo base so I added a coat of holographic silver I found on Etsy ages ago.  It didn't really do much but a little rainbow always helps.  Once everything was dry, I cracked open the  butterfly tattoos I bought while in Australia.  My biggest problem with them wasn't that they weren't pretty but that cutting out a section to fit my nail meant I was using just a part of a wing and it lost a lot of the obvious "butterfly" appearance.  However, the colours still worked well together and ended up creating quite an interesting abstract look.

The Verdict:  I really like this technique and I'm really surprised how well the tattoos hold up, both in application and endurance under a top coat.  I'm definitely going to have to raid the dollar store now, and try out the Disney princess tattoos I have too.....
